The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) under the Ministry of Science & Technology established the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology in 2022 with the objective of creating infrastructure and trained manpower for big data analytics of large-scale genomics and proteomics data. The aim of the center is to pursue cutting‐edge research in the field of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, focusing on genomics and proteomics data analysis through various data analytics algorithms and tools. In addition, we at DBT-funded BIC IIIT Allahabad are committed to the development of human resources through hands-on training and workshops.

The objectives of this Centre include:

• To develop tools, software, and Databases for genomics and proteomics data analytics 
• Creation of skilled manpower through Workshops/ Hands-On sessions/ Short-term courses/ Symposium/ Online Webinars on Scripting Languages, NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark, Scala, etc. 

• To study and find new therapeutics by network mining, Association studies, Systems modeling, and MD-Simulation approaches.
